Meet the President

The heartbeat of ABK Tile & Marble belongs to our President, Adam B Kurzweil. A man whose determination, artistry and skill are second only to his profound love of natural stone and his relentless passion for bringing our clients visions to life. To be in the presence of Adam himself is a blessing—every deal that he makes is another soul that he touches.

 

When we walk through the doors of local tile stores, distributors and factories, everyone lights up and rushes to the door chanting ADAM B! We’re always greeted with the biggest hugs and the brightest smiles. Adam doesn’t simply have good relationships with factories, clients and workers—he has raving fans. 

 

His personality is only matched by his absolute professionalism and attention to detail. There isn’t a loose tile, crack, or slanted line in sight. In his world there are no problems, only solutions. If everyone else has told you it can’t be done, he is the person that will show you how it can and will be. He will bring out samples, draw up plans, get on his knees and install it himself if he has to. Something our clients will never hear from him is the word “no.” .

He handles every situation with ease and goes above and beyond in every facet of his business to make sure everyone is comfortable and completely satisfied. History

In the summer of 1974, Adam B Kurzweil hopped in the back of his father’s red Chevy pickup truck and headed to a job site. He was 12 years old and recalls playing in the sand piles on site, making sand castles while his dad installed floors. “I would carry buckets for him, mix materials and grout floors” he explains, “I became a really good helper.”

 

Every summer throughout high school, Adam would join his father, learning the ins and outs of the trade. After several years of installing tile, he eventually learned how to install marble and natural stones. From one day to the next, Adam progressed from a journeyman to a master craftsman.

 

After attending the Florida State University, he went to work full time with his father as an installer, working on many high-end projects. Five years of many long, hot days and back aches later—Adam dreamt of taking his dad’s business to the next level. 

 

“I had a vision” Adam shares, “I wanted to sell tile in large scale.” In 1988 Adam partnered with a friend that owned a carpet company whom asked him to spearhead a new tile initiative. He negotiated a deal with Lenar Homes to sell tile for every show room they had. When Adam first entered this new space, there were a few other huge companies that sold and installed tile for Lenar, though three years later, due to his diligence and timeliness, he had taken over the market completely. 

 

Then came 2008—the bubble bursted and building came to a halt, but this didn’t stop him. Adam took his 20 top installers and opened a business catered to high-end clients. The first home they completed was a huge success, and once people saw their work, the calls started flowing in. “I became the guy that did these beautiful homes—the only guy that could achieve this level of exquisite work.” Adam’s dreams of being his own boss and sharing his love for people and natural stone came true—ABK Tile & Marble was born.
